Double Dutch Challenge.

Hi everyone and Happy Sunday.
I've just been shopping at my local shopping centre, and they just happened to have a wedding fayre on today. Not a big affair, but just a few local business' displaying their wares. Amongst them were a couple of handmade wedding stationary stands. Well let me tell you, I couldn't believe what they were charging for their invitations, and they were only things like a small rose with a tiny piece of mulberry paper glued onto a deckle edge card, with a computer generated text layout inside. Very very simple, nothing fancy, not even what I would call good quality or even nice looking card. My son Adam was with me, and even he said they were rubbish.
Now I know that wedding invites have to be quick as they are usually done in large numbers, but even so, I would at least like them to look special. I'm glad my son has asked me to do his, as I am confident I can do a better job. I did get some literature, so I'm going to take a look at the websites later. It always pays to do a bit of research, and to know who the competition is. You never know when this kind of information will be useful, especially as it's local to me.

ooOoo

On to the challenge. Double Dutch has given out a recipe on their blog for certain ingredients to use on your creation. These ingredients are:

As you can see, just like a recipe, I have gathered all my ingredients together, to make sure I don't miss anything out. The papers are from the Basic Grey Archaic Collection, and are 6x6, so the patterns are scaled down to the right size for cardmaking. And here's how it all went together:

I used one of of my new 'Little Cotton Rabbits' stamps from Funky Kits, although this one is obviously a teddy bear, and not a rabbit. I coloured with Copic's and cut the oval with my Nesties. Here's a closer look at the image.

The brown flower is from Prima, and the blue one started off as a piece of white card. I punched a flower shape with my Retro Flower medium punch from EK Success, inked the edges, and stamped a leafy pattern on it. I then cut slits in the petals, and curled them up, added a brad to hold the two flowers together, and that's it, done. The buttons are from Doodlebug Designs, one of my favourite manufacturers at the moment. I finished it off with a little metal 'Made With Love' charm from Calico Crafts.

I'm doing really well decorating the insides too, don't know how much longer it will last though.

Here are the Copic markers I used. I'd be happy to hear your comments if you have the time.

Happy Crafting

This is gorgeous Debbie. I know what you mean about the invitations. I was looking for some inspiration for a 40th wedding anniversary card last night and came across some very poor quality handmade cards on sale for about £4 each!! I'm sure your cards will be stunning, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Really lovely image, and I love the pretty colour combo.

I know what you mean about the wedding cards. It makes me angry that people charge crazy amounts for something us crafters know is basic to say the least! ~♥~
